Sister Zeph Receives 3 Laptops in Support of Uplifting Women in Pakistan

Inaccessible technology remains a prevalent challenge for individuals and communities around the globe. Although access connects users to many benefits, such as paying bills online, streaming videos, or shopping worldwide, Sister Zeph, Founder and Chairperson of the Zephaniah Women’s Education & Empowerment (ZWEE) Foundation, says that access to technology represents something bigger: a voice.

In 1997, Sister Zeph was a 13-year-old girl living in a slum area of rural Pakistan facing challenges at home and in society, including physical violence and discrimination at school. Because of this, at 13, she decided to leave school in favor of starting her own in the courtyard of her home. Working to raise the status of women through education and empowerment, Sister Zeph opened her school and provided free education to women and girls around the area.

In 2014, after working a second full-time job for years to finance her school, Sister Zeph joined social media, later winning a global prize for her teaching and writing. With the earned prize money, she expanded her school, adding an additional small building that now serves as the skills center. Since then, through a combination of her hard work and financial support from various organizations, Sister Zeph and her team are now able to serve roughly 300 students per year, teaching skills in fields such as science, health education, English language, self-defense, and more.

Needless to say, the work of Sister Zeph and her team is inspirational. Though her dedication, countless women and girls have learned key skills and gained years of free education. When Computer Reach gained an opportunity to connect with Sister Zeph and her team, we were enthused.

In April of 2019, Computer Reach partnered with Inspired Women Paying it Forward – Pittsburgh  North Chapter in an effort to support this powerful mission. Debra Dion Krischke and her organization sponsored the laptops and the international transport to Sister Zeph’s team in Pakistan stating “By donating these three laptops, we hope to aid Sister Zeph in her mission to raise up, educate, and empower Pakistani women.”
