Volunteering at 7800 Susquehanna

When?

Computer Reach hosts in-person volunteer days most Fridays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Please check the Pittsburgh Cares Volunteer schedule and register.

Where?

All volunteers report to the new Computer Reach headquarters in Homewood at 7800 Susquehanna Street. Free parking is available in our large lot.

What will you do?

When you  register at Pittsburgh Cares for Friday volunteering at Computer Reach you can expect to participate in these activities:

  • auditing recently donated computers and devices

  • refurbishing equipment that is repairable

  • responsible recycling of anything not fixable

  • testing and cleaning  monitors, keyboards, and mice

  • packing up computer systems for shipments to individuals and organizations in need.

  • counting and organizing power cords, cables and much more …

Technical and non-technical

  • Skills training and tools are provided.

  • Ages 18-80+ welcome.

  • We cannot accept volunteers under age 18.

  • We cannot accept volunteers that require a chaperone.

Volunteer Perks

  • Help get a computer into the hands of someone in need. 

  • If you require a letter for your school or business to verify your community service hours, we are happy to provide any documentation needed.

Expectations

  • All volunteers will report to the new Computer Reach headquarters at 7800 Susquehanna St, Pittsburgh, PA 15208

  • Volunteer hours are on Fridays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

  • All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes – no sandals or flip-flops.

Reservations (Groups)

We can host individual and group recycling events on reserved dates and times (outside of our routine Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. events) for volunteers from your school, business, church, or community center. These special events are done on a case-by-case basis, in coordination with your needs and our team’s availability.
