The University of Pittsburgh’s Human Engineering Research Laboratories is offering a 10-week summer research experience for undergraduate students interested in rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology. All participants will free housing and a stipend during the program.
What is the 2022 Aspire Program?
The University of Pittsburgh is accepting 10 undergraduate students into the 2022 cohort of their American Student Placements in Rehabilitation Engineering (ASPIRE) program. Running from May 16 – July 21, 2022, the program provides an in-depth summer research experience with an emphasis on research in the rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology fields. Participants will:
- write a project paper,
- develop a poster, and
- compete in an elevator pitch competition based on their research assignment.
Participants will receive free housing and a stipend of $4,750 during the program. Numerous personal and professional development opportunities will also be available. For answers to common questions, visit the FAQ page.
Eligibility
Students of all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. To be eligible, applicants must:
- be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident,
- and be enrolled in a bachelor degree program at the time of the research experience.
Seniors who will graduate before or during summer 2022 are not eligible to apply.
