40 Computer Bundles and Hotspots Distributed to Pittsburgh Residents

Computer Reach completed 2 Digital Navigator projects in July, which distributed 40 computer bundles and 40 hotspots to local Pittsburgh residents and offered 1:1 in-person setup support and digital literacy training. What is the Digital Navigators program? Computer Reach's Digital Navigators program provides recipients with: a free desktop computer bundle (including an external webcam), a free hotspot, 1:1 in-person setup support and digital literacy training, and follow-up tech support over the phone or in-person as needed. Volunteering Resumes at Computer Reach

  Approximately 22% of households¹ in Allegheny County don't have a desktop or laptop computer at home. We're looking to get them connected, and we need your help. In-Person Volunteering Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Computer Reach temporarily suspended our in-person volunteering opportunities. However, with the percentage of vaccinated people in Allegheny County rising and case numbers dropping, in-person volunteering will resume on Fridays starting June 11, 2021. Computer Lottery Program Over 6 months, Computer Reach distributed over 300 Free Computer Bundles to individuals in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. In April alone, we distributed 60 Free Computer Bundles. We will continue to offer this program until all individuals on our waitlist have been served. Only 50 people are left on our list. $22,500 Grant Awarded to Renew 100 WiFi Hotspots

The EQT Foundation awarded Computer Reach a $22,500 grant to renew 100 WiFi hotspots that were deployed into the homes of Washington County families last year. Thanks to the grant, families will receive internet at no cost for 12 additional months. March Highlights Age-Friendly Technology Guide Computer Reach published its first Age-Friendly Technology Guide. It features a list of affordable internet and technology options, technical support services, and technology training locations. January Highlights Distributions Computer Reach distributed 24 Windows OS Laptops to the Fayette County Community Action Agency, a nonprofit based in Fayette County.
