Last week we received some local press coverage in Ghana about the work we are currently doing there. It was so exciting to get recognized and see our work with The Street Academy in print!

100 Computers with FREE Software going to 3 Regions in Ghana

Computer Reach is a PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, USA based non-profit that recycles used computers with FREE Software.

Africa ICT Right also non-profit here in Ghana and is partnering with Computer Reach.

Together, both Computer Reach and Africa ICT Right will distribute 100 computers across 3 regions in Ghana.

We appreciate the Ghana governments support of NGO’s with tax exempt shipping.

In March 2012 Computer Reach served The Street Academy on High Street in Accra with 5 computers running FREE Software.

In April 2012 Computer Reach served The Evangelical Presbyterian Church University and High Schools in Ho, Volta Region with 5 computers running FREE Software.

The USA team from Computer Reach is here now in Ghana from  Oct 11, 2012 to Nov 2, 2012.   Working with Ghana Linux User Groups, they will be delivering, installing and training teachers on FREE Software at several schools and  community centers:

Tamale community  ( in West Gonja )

We plan to followup with a February – March 2013  trip with many more computers.
