Uber Donates 286 Computers to Computer Reach

On May 16, 2019, Computer Reach received the first shipment of computers donated by Uber Advanced Technologies Group (Uber).

In a letter from Uber Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi, Khosrowshahi states that Uber was born out of a “watershed moment” in technology, working with the commitment to “provide everyone on its global platform with access to move ahead.” Well-known for its transportation services, Uber has expanded over the past few years, now providing ride-share and carpooling; food delivery and freight; and other services while testing innovative products such as their automated vehicles.

Thanks to the generosity of Uber, Computer Reach received a six pallet donation, containing 286 computers. It is through donations like this that Computer Reach is able to offer community members access to affordable technologies and digital literacy opportunities.

A big thank you to Jamie Ruggeri, Justin Herko, and Tyler Lamb for cultivating such a great relationship with our Executive Director, Dave Sevick, with over a year passing since our first connection was made. Thank you as well to Kyle Spangler, Shawn Cordell, David Mitchell, and Jerry Cobbs for working closely with our dedicated volunteers every week. We look forward to continuing our work together in an effort to bridge the digital divide.
