Artificial Intelligence Bootcamps are Coming to Pittsburgh
High school students: Are you interested in artificial intelligence? If so, sign up to attend a free Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp made available through Argo AI, The Readiness Institute at Penn State, and the Mark Cuban Foundation.
Artificial Intelligence Bootcamps
Argo AI and The Readiness Institute at Penn State will each host a Mark Cuban Foundation Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bootcamp for high school students in Fall 2022. Located in Pittsburgh, the no cost bootcamps will introduce beginner AI concepts and skills to underserved high school students in grades 9 through 12. The camp will be held over 4 consecutive Saturdays from October 22 – November 12, 2022.
Food, transportation, and access to laptops are available at no cost throughout the duration of the bootcamp.
What will students learn?
Students will learn:
- what artificial intelligence is,
- where they already interact with AI in their own lives,
- and the ethical implications of AI systems including, but not limited to, TikTok recommendations, smart home assistants, and facial recognition.
Students will also have access to mentors and instructors who are knowledgeable about data science and able to help students understand material normally taught at a collegiate level. Students will also get to work in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft’s cloud computing platform, to build their own AI applications.
How to Apply
Student and parent applications are now open. Students are not required to have prior experience in computer science, programming, or robotics to apply and attend. Applications must be submitted before Thursday, September 1, 2022.
