Computer Reach completed 2 Digital Navigator projects in July, which distributed 40 computer bundles and 40 hotspots to local Pittsburgh residents and offered 1:1 in-person setup support and digital literacy training. What is the Digital Navigators program? Computer Reach's Digital Navigators program provides recipients with: a free desktop computer bundle (including an external webcam), a free hotspot, 1:1 in-person setup support and digital literacy training, and follow-up tech support over the phone or in-person as needed. Digital Navigator Service Model Launched

Official Launch of Digital Navigator Service Model In June, Computer Reach launched 2 projects where we visited the homes of our end-users to complete one-on-one 1-hour computer setup sessions. Each session included: the setup of a desktop computer bundle and external webcam, the setup up a hotspot to provide internet access, basic training on passwords, internet safety, and email, and time for end-users to ask questions. BIG NEWS! Computer Reach successfully provided a free desktop computer bundle to every eligible person on our Computer Lottery Program waitlist. We distributed roughly 365 bundles to local residents over an 8-month timeframe.   Approximately 22% of households¹ in Allegheny County don't have a desktop or laptop computer at home. We're looking to get them connected, and we need your help. In-Person Volunteering Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Computer Reach temporarily suspended our in-person volunteering opportunities. However, with the percentage of vaccinated people in Allegheny County rising and case numbers dropping, in-person volunteering will resume on Fridays starting June 11, 2021.
