Computer Reach completed 2 Digital Navigator projects in July, which distributed 40 computer bundles and 40 hotspots to local Pittsburgh residents and offered 1:1 in-person setup support and digital literacy training.

In July, Computer Reach had David Freudberg of Humankind Media come down to Pittsburgh to talk to one of our Digital Navigator recipients, Melvin Lewis. Computer Lottery Program
Computer Reach launched its Computer Lottery program in August 2020 as a means to get free Desktop Computer Bundles into the hands of the people who needed them most. Over a period of eight months, 365 people in the Greater Pittsburgh Area entered to win a bundle and received one. Computer Lottery Program Over 6 months, Computer Reach distributed over 300 Free Computer Bundles to individuals in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. In April alone, we distributed 60 Free Computer Bundles.
We will continue to offer this program until all individuals on our waitlist have been served. Only 50 people are left on our list. If you know someone who needs a free computer, encourage them to sign up. Partnership with Infinite Electronics Recycling Computer Reach and Infinite Electronics Recycling (IER) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that names IER as our official responsible recycling partner agency.
In August 2020, Computer Reach launched our Computer Lottery Program to get free Desktop Computer Bundles into the hands of local community members during a time when they needed it most. Earlier this month, individuals at Hawkins Village participated in Computer Reach Classes to access critical knowledge on safely and effectively operating digital technologies. Consisting of four two-hour class sessions, our program teaches basic computer hardware skills, internet, email, and social media safety. Each hands-on session was taught using computers, providing students with in-person opportunities to test out new knowledge, practice, and ask questions. Computer Reach successfully graduated 11 students at Hawkins Village, many of whom earned NorthStar certifications for computer skills such as Internet Basics and email.
