Celebrating Crossroads Scholar Bryce Matthews
Celebrating Crossroads Scholar Bryce Matthews
Crossroads and Computer Reach have been very close partners for years. Our partnership gives high school students the opportunity to explore the field of computer science through the lens of nonprofits. One example of this has been current Crossroads Scholar Bryce Matthews.
A rising senior at Central Catholic High School, Bryce has participated in Computer Reach’s summer camps in the past, and this summer he returned to Computer Reach to spend some time working under the wing of Computer Reach’s Technology Manager, David Mitchell, all while getting paid through the Crossroads Internship Program.
What is the Crossroads Internship Program?
As described by Landis Erwin, Director of Development at Crossroads, the Crossroads Internship Program “matches Rising Seniors with working professionals at sponsoring companies in the Greater Pittsburgh area.” Each scholar is matched with a paid internship that closest fits their chosen career path. Internship hosts provide an environment where their interning scholar will:
- build relationship skills,
- interact with professionals within the field,
- and determine their future goals.
Thanks, Bryce!
With the hands-on experience that Bryce received over the summer, we’re ecstatic to see where his career takes him as he finishes up his final year of high school! Thanks, Bryce!
