Moonshot Museum Opening this October

Moonshot Museum, Pittsburgh’s first space museum, is opening its doors this October 2022! Join the opening celebrations to watch real lunar landers being built, enjoy immersive simulated mission experiences, and more.

Moonshot Museum to Open Soon

On August 23, Moonshot Museum announced that it will open its doors to the public on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Moonshot Museum is Pennsylvania’s first space museum and the first museum in the world to focus on career readiness for the contemporary space industry.

As described in its press release, the museum “will send visitors on simulated lunar missions designed to foster space career + community readiness and propel young people of all backgrounds to purse space-related careers across the spectrum of science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (STEAM).” This includes, but is not limited to, space careers in medicine, business, law, policy, and the humanities.

Astrobotic CEO and founding board member John Thornton said that “the Moonshot Museum is a decade-long dream turned reality” and that it’s “designed for the community to literally step into the world of the space industry.” The museum will serve as a space for the community to meet real people building spacecraft and discover that there’s a place for them in space.
