Virginia STAR/FEMA Donates 752 Units to Computer Reach

On March 26, 2019, Computer Reach Executive Director Dave Sevick and Operations Manager Kyle Spangler traveled to Virginia to receive computer donations from our AFTRR partner organization, Virginia STAR.

Virginia STAR received a bulk donation of computers from FEMA and, due to the large number of individual pieces, was not able to process all of the donations themselves. To make the best use of excess donations, Virginia STAR reached out to Computer Reach. Through this connection, Computer Reach received 626 PC laptops and 126 PC desktop towers, totaling 752 central processing units received in addition to other miscellaneous supplies. This marks the largest donation ever received by Computer Reach in its 19-year history!

Thank you, Virginia STAR, for all of the work that you do and for reinforcing our mission to increase assess to affordable technologies and digital literacy in local, national, and international communities.

Needless to say, picking up donations isn’t easy. During this trip, one of us even split his pants! We didn’t let that stop us from receiving all of the donations though.
